The International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) has announced the Teaching Recognition Award Recipients for 2009.  Dr. Medge Owen, Professor of Obstetric Anesthesiology, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center has received the IARS Innovation in Education Award for her outstanding career contributions made toward improving safe childbirth worldwide.  Dr. Owen is the President and Founder of Kybele, Inc., an organization that partners with healthcare facilities around the world to promote and improve childbirth conditions for mother and baby.

As a recipient of the IARS Teaching Recognition Award, Dr. Owen will receive $15,000, as well as round-trip airfare and accommodations at the IARS 2010 Annual meeting to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii in March 2010.
